After the success of both “Ocean’s” films, it’ll be no surprise to hear that George Clooney’s scouring though the ol’ Blue Eyes back catalogue for his next money spinner.
Clooney has reportedly just bought the rights to another ratpack flick “Robin And The 7 Hoods”, and already has “Ocean’s” pals Brad Pitt and Matt Damon (just to think if Mark Wahlberg had never jumped ship from “Ocean’s” – that’d be him sharing the screen with the former caped crusader time and time again) on board.
It’ll be updated, of course, from the original story of a corrupt Chicago Sheriff going against a mob, with Robin (likely to be played by Clooney) and his boys caught up in the middle.
The original “Robin and the 7 Hoods” (1964) starred Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Bing Crosby, Peter Falk, and Barbara Rush.
Wonder whether Steven Soderbergh will direct, or at the very least, produce?

Robert De Niro Set to Direct “The Good Shepherd”
Angelina Jolie will join Matt Damon for the dramatic movie, “The Good Shepherd,” to be directed by Robert De Niro. Matt Damon stepped into the lead role when Leonardo DiCaprio had to withdraw from the project.
According to Variety, “The Good Shepherd” tells the story of the CIA through the eyes of an agent whose personal life is destroyed by the job’s stress. Damon will play the agent with Jolie co-starring as his wife.
Production is expected to begin in March 2005. De Niro and Jane Rosenthal will produce “The Good Shepherd,” with Francis Ford Coppola, Rick Schwartz, and Chris Brigham executive producing.
Angelina Jolie will next be seen in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” opposite Brad Pitt. Damon has “Syriana” with George Clooney and “The Brothers Grimm” with Heath Ledger due out in 2005.
On April 12, the whole gang is back in the Warner Home Video DVD release of Ocean’s Twelve, which has grossed over $294 million worldwide. The action-adventure, from director Steven Soderbergh, stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, and Bernie Mac.
Danny Ocean and pals return in a sequel to the cool caper that saw them pull off a $160 million heist. But $160 million doesn’t go as far as it used to. Not with everyone spending like sailors on leave. Not with a mysterious someone stalking Danny and crew. It’s time to pull off another stunner of a plan–or plans.
